MFM Appt Update 3.30.21 – 21.5 Weeks
Yesterday we went in for our third visit with the Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist. This was a slightly shorter visit than the last two as they didn’t do quite as many measurements this time around. They checked everyone’s heartbeats and they all measured somewhere in the 140’s to 150’s, which is great. They each got a good once over to check their amniotic fluid, body position (all head down yesterday) and just a few other overall wellness checks. Everyone was super wiggly yesterday so it was a little harder for them to grab photos, especially of Baby Boy C. He was also hiding his face a lot. It’s always incredibly…

MFM Appt Update from 3.17.21
I’m going to start sharing quick updates from our doctor’s appointments for anyone following along, or wanting to know a bit more about what’s different in a triplet pregnancy. The two big things are that we see doctors a lot more often, including regular appointments with a maternal fetal medicine specialist (high risk doctor) and we have a lot more sonograms than any normal pregnancy. My friend who is 34 weeks right now just told me today that she will have a total of 3 sonograms for her whole pregnancy. We have a sonogram at every single appointment we go to and we are at an appointment somewhere no less…

Bump Friendly Fitness
Being pregnant with triplets didn’t seem like that much of a challenge until the last week or so. Suddenly as I finish 19 weeks, I am really starting to feel the aches, pains and heaviness of my growing belly. Early on, many people asked me if I would be able to keep up a regular fitness routine, if I would be on bed rest for a large portion of my pregnancy, even if it was safe to carry three babies at almost 47. My answers, with a couple caveats, are easy: yes, no (at least I hope not, and not so far), and yes, absolutely. Let me start by saying…

It Started with a Breakup
My IVF journey started a while back, before I ever met my husband, before I had any idea of what my future family would look like. It started with my 40th birthday and the fight that day that made me fairly certain the year and half long relationship I had been in was not the one I would be staying in long term. A month or so later, having fully realized the toxicity of the man I had been living with, I walked away. Away from his functional alcoholism, away from his verbal abuse and into the unknown of being 40 and single, wanting a family but unwilling to settle.…

Welcome to the Party!
At least that’s what feels like what’s happening around here. We are going from a family of two humans and three dogs to FIVE humans and three dogs. Let the shenanigans begin! I can only imagine right now what our life is going to look like in a few more months (roughly sometime in late June to Mid July if all goes according to plan), and I hope you’ll come along for the ride. I’ve found it super helpful to read the stories of other triplet moms as I go through this adventure into first time parenthood, so I thought I might be able to help other moms by sharing…
